Coventry expect Magnus Hedman to become a Celtic player early next week.

The Sweden international is high on Martin O’Neill’s summer shopping list as he attempts to bring a goalkeeper to Parkhead capable of challenging Rab Douglas for the number one jersey.

Hedman had looked set to join Spanish side Espanol but revealed recently how Sweden team-

mates Henrik Larsson and Johan Mjallby convinced him to move to Celtic.

The Sky Blues are now resigned to losing him and boss Gary McAllister expects the deal to be completed in the next few of days.

He told the News of the World: "Magnus is going to speak to Celtic on Monday morning.

"All things being equal, I’d expect the deal to go through."

City chairman Mike McGinnity - speaking in the Sunday Mail - said: "We have received an offer from Celtic for Magnus Hedman far in excess of the Espanol offer.

"He’ll be travelling up early next week for a medical and to discuss personal terms."
