Everton's new signing Joseph Yobo was not seriously injured in Tuesday's friendly against Queens Park as was first feared.

David Moyes was worried when the Nigerian limped off after just 22 minutes of his debut in the 6-0 win at Hampden Park.

The £5m (€7.9m) centre-half was taken to hospital for an X-ray amid fears that he might have cracked his fibula.

However the scan has revealed that he has just suffered soft tissue damage around his ankle.

An Everton spokesman said: "He limped off after 22 minutes and was taken to hospital in Glasgow for an X-ray.

"There is no break and no damage, just a bit of soft tissue damage around the ankle.

"We will assess the injury more over the next few days."
