Wise facing anxious wait
Leicester City’s out-of-favour midfielder Dennis Wise is expected to learn his fate on Friday after his bust-up with Callum Davidson.
Wise was sent home from City’s pre-season tour of Finland after an incident which left Davidson with a double fracture of the cheekbone.
The former Chelsea skipper is currently suspended by the Foxes and has been told to stay away from the club’s new stadium and training ground.
But it will not be until the end of the week that Wise learns whether his alleged antics lead to even more severe action - including the possibility of the remaining two years of his contract being terminated.
The Foxes are aware they would have to be sure of their ground legally if they opted to take such a drastic measure.
City manager Micky Adams and the remainder of the squad will not return home until the early hours of tomorrow morning.
And the first chance Adams will have to inform Martin George face to face about the Wise-Davidson bust-up is late on Thursday evening when the City chairman returns from holiday in Majorca.
It is only then that Wise’s future will be decided upon and it is likely that the club will stage a press conference on Friday to announce their findings if the ex-England midfielder has been shown the door.
In the meantime, City are continuing to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident which is alleged to have happened in Davidson’s hotel room in the aftermath of a game of cards.
Ironically, it emerged yesterday that Wise was already available on a free transfer - along with skipper Matt Elliott and Tim Flowers.
But that decision had been taken before the incident in Scandinavia with City needing to off-load big wage earners like Wise and Elliott to ease their worrying financial position following their relegation from the Premiership.
