Djorkaeff excited by Bolton return
France midfielder Youri Djorkaeff is excited at the prospect of helping Bolton’s Premiership campaign next season.
Djorkaeff has signed a two-year deal at the Reebok Stadium, his arrival a major coup for manager Sam Allardyce ahead of the new campaign.
Djorkaeff, a World Cup winner with France in 1998, joined Bolton on a short-term deal from Kaiserslautern last February.
In a 12-game stint he helped the club escape relegation.
Djorkaeff said: ‘‘The past few months were very good for me and very important as I was able to play in the World Cup.
‘‘I found the spirit here very good and it was always in my mind to come back.
‘‘I know the team and the trainer. It’s good at Bolton. People know me and there is a good feeling between us.’’
Djorkaeff is Allardyce’s fourth signing of the summer. Jay Jay Okocha, Akin Bulent and Delroy Facey have all been drafted in to the squad.
Djorkaeff said: ‘‘Jay Jay is a good player. I know him from Paris St Germain. I am sure we can do good things for the team.
‘‘I want to put Bolton firmly on the map and like to thank Sam Allardyce for showing faith in my ability.’’
Allardyce said: ‘‘We are developing an excellent squad of players here. There is a real sense of optimism and I for one cannot wait for the start of the season.’’
