Rovers start campaign brightly

Marc Kenny scored another free kick as Rovers began their Premier Divison campaign with a win at the Brandywell.

Kenny caught Derry's new keeper Alan Gough napping to beat him at his near post for the opening goal on 17 minutes.

Gough was at fault again as Rovers sealed their win with a second goal on 72 minutes when Noel Hunt lifted the ball over the keeper to give Shane Robinson a simple header.

Sean Hargan got Derry's consolation goal in the final minute with a 20 yard drive.
