Belgium win Fifa Fair Play award

Belgium have been named the cleanest team at the World Cup after finishing top of Fifa's fair play table ahead of Sweden and Japan.

The distinction is awarded by football's governing body to teams that have played at least four matches.

It takes into account the number of yellow and red cards a team receives, and behaviour both on and off the field.

Fifa spokesman Keith Cooper announced the winner ahead of the World Cup final. The protagonists in the showpiece, Brazil and Germany, finished sixth and eighth respectively in the fair play league.

The prize includes a trophy, medals, a diploma, and a $50,000 (£32.600) voucher for equipment for the country's youth development programme.
