Bowyer still on Leeds transfer list

Lee Bowyer is still set to leave Leeds United, despite David O’Leary’s sacking as Elland Road manager.

The former England Under-21 international was placed on the transfer list after failing to agree a new contract and his accountant insists Bowyer’s departure is still on the cards.

David Giess told BBC Sport Online: "Nothing has changed. Lee is still on the transfer list.

"Lee was very surprised by the news of the manager’s sacking on Thursday. He has always got on very well with David."

But, with Liverpool touted as favourites to land Bowyer’s signature, Giess insisted he has had no contact with potential buyers.

He added: "You would have to ask Leeds whether any clubs have made enquiries, but no clubs have approached me about Bowyer."
