McCarthy confident but aware

The Republic of Ireland football manager is confident that his team will have a good game tomorrow in the World Cup knock-out round. Nonetheless, he is aware that the Spanish side are fully backed if necessary.

McCarthy signalled that all the players would be fit for the second round game earlier today. There had been worries that Staunton and Keane might have been injured for the clash. Nonetheless, even with all the players fit, McCarthy says the Spanish have a lot of options.

Speaking in the South Korean capital, he maintained that the Spanish side had some very good back up on the bench as was evident from making eight changes in their final and successful game in Group B against South Africa.
