Voller: We deserved to win

Germany coach Rudi Voller believed his team deserved their 1-0 second-round victory over Paraguay despite leaving it late.

Oliver Neuville struck the winner two minutes from the end in Seogwipo.

Voller said: "The first half was not really good football. The ball was just being hit all over the place, it was not really a proper game.

"We made a change at half-time (Sebastian Kehl for Marko Rehmer) and we started to press Paraguay more after that.

"I feel it was a deserved victory in the end. Paraguay are a very difficult and strong opponent, but when we were able to play the ball more down the wings later on we got a merited victory."

Germany, the first team to book their place in the quarter-finals, will now play the winner of the United States or Mexico.

"It does not matter which one as both are good sides who had good first rounds," said Voller.
