Irish manager Mick McCarthy has refused to accept the training facilities provided to the Irish team ahead of their World Cup last-16 showdown with Spain on Sunday.

McCarthy inspected the facilities in Seoul yesterday and immediately said they were not up to the standards required by his team.

They had previously been used by China.

Discussions with World Cup organisers continued throughout this morning and the Irish will now train at a military base on the outskirts of the city.

Ireland’s 22-man squad arrived in the South Korean capital yesterday and were given the evening off ahead of preparations for the Spain clash.
