Carlisle in administration
Carlisle United have been placed into voluntary administration in a bid to safeguard their future.
The directors of the cash-strapped club sought appropriate professional advice as soon as the Inland Revenue winding up petition was presented, and a move to appoint an administrator was granted by the High Court last week.
A statement from the administrators said: ‘‘On Thursday, June 6, David Elliot and David Walker of BKR Haines Watts were appointed joint administrators of the club at the request of Carlisle’s directors.
‘‘The directors are assisting the administration process by providing working capital for the club in the interim period.
‘‘The administrators are aware that the club was in the process of realising surplus land assets, the proceeds of which will restore the company’s liquidity and provide a positive cash flow.’’
The statement, signed by Elliot and posted on the club’s official website, www.carlisleunited.co.uk, added: ‘‘The administrators are in the process of putting together a financial plan which would reschedule the repayment of the company’s debts.’’
