Sorin ruled out of England clash

Juan Pablo Sorin has joined Roberto Ayala on the injury list as Argentina prepare for tomorrow’s Group F meeting with England in Sapporo.

Lazio midfielder Sorin suffered a calf strain in training late last night and is ruled out.

Argentina coach Marcelo Bielsa is set to play Kily Gonzalez in Sorin’s central midfield role.

Gonzalez had been earmarked to play instead of Claudio Lopez who started against England but was replaced by Gonzalez.

Bayer Leverkusen’s Diego Placente deputises again for Ayala, who missed the England game with a thigh strain and has not regained fitness despite intensive treatment.

Ayala’s absence means Manchester United’s Juan Sebastian Veron skippers the side again having done so against Nigeria.
