Spain prove too good for Slovenia

Spain have defeated Slovenia 3-1 in their World Cup Group B opener in Korea today.

Raul put them ahead in the first half, and Valeron extended their lead after 74 minutes.

Cimirotic gave Slovenia hope with a well-taken goal in the last 10 minutes but Hierro sealed the victory for Spain with a penalty on 87 minutes after substitute Morientes was felled in the box.

Spain now top Group B.
