Denmark defeat Uruguay
Uruguay 1, Denmark 2
John Dahl Tomasson continued the best season of his professional career by scoring both Denmark goals in an impressive 2-1 win over Uruguay in Ulsan
The red-hot PSV Eindhoven striker, who hit 17 goals in 27 matches for the Dutch side in the past season, scored either side of the break to put Denmark level with Senegal at the top of Group A.
David Rodriguez's stunning volley in the first minute of the second half had lifted Uruguay, but the former Newcastle striker sealed the points with a glancing header eight minutes from time.
Paying more than a passing interest to events was Roger Lemerre, whose France side were shocked by the Africans on the opening day. And the world champions have it all to do if they are going to qualify for the knock-out stages.
