Charlton warns McCarthy about Cameroon threat
Former Irish manager Jack Charlton has warned his successor, Mick McCarthy, that Cameroon poses a serious danger in Saturday’s World Cup opener.
Charlton, who established Ireland as a footballing force during his 10-year reign, said: "I saw Cameroon on television during the African Nations Cup and although the pitches were bumpy, bouncy and hard, they still looked like they could play. What they’re going to play like on real grass might frighten Ireland, as they’ve got pace, aggression and ability."
