Bonetti facing SFA 'trial'

Dundee boss Ivano Bonetti will be asked to explain his outburst against referee Willie Young to the general purposes committee of the Scottish Football Association.

Dundee boss Ivano Bonetti will be asked to explain his outburst against referee Willie Young to the general purposes committee of the Scottish Football Association.

Bonetti lashed out at the official following the defeat at Motherwell on the final day of the season.

Bonetti branding Young "dishonest" and "a joke".

Now, the SFA have asked the Dens Park boss to attend a meeting at Hampden Park next week.

"A request has been made to Mr Bonetti for his comments on this matter and asking if he could make himself available for interview on Tuesday," said an SFA spokesman.

"We understand that he is in Italy at present but we believe Dundee are seeking to at least obtain his views so that these can be considered by the committee.

"We feel that it might be best if he can be in attendance but can appreciate that depends whether he is in the country. If he cannot make it then the committee will discuss his response."

But Dundee want to change the date of the meeting.

"Ivano is well aware of the serious nature of this and of the need to take the opportunity to explain his remarks to the SFA," said a club spokesman.

"He is on a pre-arranged holiday. We are therefore in discussion with Ivano and the SFA in a view to discussing a new date."
