Real want Scottish return date

Real Madrid general manager Jorge Valdano wants to play Scotland as a thank you for the welcome they received in Glasgow this week.

The Spanish giants were delighted with the hospitality they received before and after the Champions League final win over Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday.

Now Valdano wants to return the compliment by playing Berti Vogts’ team, who were beaten 4-1 by South Korea yesterday, at Hampden Park.

‘‘Real Madrid would like to be part of another game at Hampden,’’ Valdano told the Scottish Sun.

‘‘We can only play against one team and it cannot be Rangers or Celtic it would be disrespectful to the club we don’t play.

‘‘We thought about trying to arrange a game against a combined team from both clubs but that is not possible either.

‘‘But Scotland are in a new era under Berti Vogts and they are looking for rivals.

‘‘We would like to play against the Scottish national team as gratitude for the warm welcome and support they gave us.

‘‘The friendly would be great entertainment for the Scots and Spanish supporters.’’
