Jancker injury worry for Germany

Carsten Jancker has become the latest World Cup worry for Germany.

Carsten Jancker has become the latest World Cup worry for Germany.

The Bayern Munich striker collided with goalie Oliver Kahn in practice and limped off with an ankle injury.

The team doctors will diagnose the problem later in the day.

Sebastian Deisler, Christian Ziege, Christian Woerns, Marko Rehmer and Marco Bode are all trying to shake off injuries.

Jens Nowotny and Mehmet Scholl are already out for the World Cup, while Oliver Neuville is hampered by a toe injury.

Jancker was the most controversial selection in the World Cup squad, since he didn't score a goal in the Bundesliga or Champions League because of injuries.

Many have called for Jancker to be dropped and replaced by Martin Max, the 1860 Munich forward who was joint leading scorer in the Bundesliga this season.
