Stoke go through to First Division

Stoke clinched promotion to the First Division with a deserved 2-0 success over Brentford at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium today.

On-loan striker Deon Burton struck the opener from close range in the 16th minute before Ben Burgess scored an unfortunate own goal on the stroke of half-time.

Brentford battle bravely but were unable to pull a goal back in the second half and Stoke held on for the win.
