New SMS game to promote Quinn testimonial
Football fans can now enjoy a pioneering mobile text SMS message competition to celebrate Niall Quinn's testimonial on May 14.
All profits will go towards the €1,600,000 expected to be raised by the match, with beneficiaries including Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin.
Earlier this year, Quinn received widespread praise in the media when he announced he would be breaking with tradition and donating the proceeds of his testimonial benefit match to charity.
The beneficiaries are children's hospitals in Dublin and Sunderland, and a children's charity in Calcutta.
To enter, all participants need is a mobile phone to send a message to the number 53033 with the text "NIALL".
Entrants will be sent back a series of questions, together with three possible answers.
Two winners will be flown to Sunderland for the game - and will meet Niall after the match.
The competition ends on Thursday 9 May and the winner will be announced on Friday 10 May.
First National Telecom partnered with Quinn to hold the pioneering competition.
The money raised for Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children will be used to build a vital new facility within the Infectious Diseases department, which provides a service for children with a wide range of specific infections and for children whose immune systems are unable to fight infections effectively.
