Ireland U21 suffer opening defeat

Japan gave Ireland Under-21 team the runaround in Nimes today, opening their Toulon Festival campaign with an eye-catching performance and a 2-0 victory.

A goalless draw for England yesterday against China was a disappointment, but the English have brought an Under-20 team here and so could be excused.
