Real Madrid have reached the Champions League final after drawing 1-1 with Barcelona tonight to win the semi-final 3-1 on aggregate.

With Madrid leading 2-0 from the first leg, the 192nd meeting between the clubs went ahead despite two explosions in Madrid prior to kick off.

A long-range Raúl González goal just before half-time put the hosts on their way and left Barcelona needing to score three times to keep their hopes of reaching the final in Glasgow alive.

In a frenetic start to the second period, Barcelona gained some hope when Philip Cocu crossed from the left, Javier Saviola flicked the ball on and Iván Helguera deflected the ball past César Sánchez to make the score 1-1.

However, despite a spirited charge in the last few minutes, Barcelona could not find the two goals they needed and it is Madrid who will face Bayer Leverkusen on 15 May.
