Soccer: Substitute injury list lengthens for Fergie

Manchester United’s injured list for tomorrow’s must-win match against Ipswich at Portman Road has lengthened after Laurent Blanc, Fabien Barthez and Juan Veron were all ruled out.

Blanc has a twisted knee, and could be doubtful for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Bayer Leverkusen, while Barthez has damaged ribs and Veron a recurrence of his Achilles trouble.

Gary Neville, David Beckham and Ronny Johnsen were already missing and John O’Shea will partner Wes Brown at centre-half, while Roy Carroll will play in goal.

One plus for United is Roy Keane’s recovery from his hamstring tear and he will start at Portman Road.
