Soccer: Effenberg turns down offer to join Man City

Bayern Munich midfielder Stefan Effenberg has reportedly turned down an offer to join Manchester City.

According to a German sports agency, the33-year-old said: “I will definitely not play for Manchester. I phoned the club on Monday and turned them down.”

Effenberg is due to leave Munich on a free transfer at the end of this season and several newspapers reported this morning that he had signed a two-year contract with City.
