Shaving company Gillette is offering Lynam an "undisclosed sum" to be donated to his charity of choice if he shaves it off.

The company want Lynam's new look show to be shown for the first time before the World Cup match between England and Sweden.

The poll by BMRB International for Gillette shows 67% of those interviewed thought Lynam should agree to the plan.

Steve Clarke of Gillette UK said: "This research shows the new generation of armchair football fans might prefer an even smoother Des Lynam for 2002."

BMRB interviewed 1017 people across Britain aged 16 and over from April 19-21.
