Jari Litnamen has handed Liverpool a Champions League lifeline with a strike 12 minutes from time to give the Merseysiders the advantage in their quarter-final clash against Bayer Leverkusen at the BayArena.

Bayer Leverkusen took the lead on aggregate at the BayArena after Michael Ballack scored his second for the Germans on 64 minutes and four minutes later Liverpool failed to clear a Ballack shot, and after a melee the ball found Berbatov in the area and the young Bulgarian struck from close range.
