Soccer: Blackburn's Walters suspended
Blackburn Rovers have suspended teenage striker Jonathan Walters for a breach of club discipline.
The 18-year-old was a member of the Blackburn team who reached the final of the FA Youth Cup last season.
Blackburn lost the two-leg final 6-3 on aggregate to Arsenal, but Walters scored as Rovers won their home leg 3-1.
He was expected to have a bright future at Ewood Park, but that is in doubt following his suspension.
Rovers chief executive John Williams told the Sunday People: ‘‘Jonathan Walters has been suspended for a breach of club discipline. He is currently having trials with another club.’’
Walters is eligible to play for both England and the Republic of Ireland, and, although he has been asked to represent the Republic at Under-19 level, has yet to commit himself to either nation.
