Republic of Ireland soccer international Niall Quinn should head the joint Scottish-Irish bid for the 2008 European Championships, it was suggested.

During talks between representatives of the Dáil and the British parliament in Dublin, it was suggested that the 35-year-old Sunderland star should be asked to give the bid a celebrity boost.
