Soccer: Scholes out of squad for England friendly

England manager Sven Goran Eriksson has left Manchester United’s Paul Scholes out of the squad for the friendly game against Italy tomorrow after the midfielder suffered a calf injury.

Kieron Dyer is also out of the squad, despite returning to action for Newcastle after fracturing his foot.

Eriksson has confirmed that Sol Campbell will play at least half of the game, but he still uncertain about Ashley Cole, who has problems with ligaments in his knee.

Teddy Sheringham will also train with the team today in an effort to prove his fitness.
