Premiership: Rovers confirm Karpin interest

Blackburn have confirmed they have run the rule over Russian international Valeri Karpin.

Karpin is an established international midfielder and is currently with Spanish side Celta Vigo.

Chief executive John Williams said: ‘‘He is one of several players we have looked at and he could become available on a Bosman at the end of the season.

‘‘As an attacking midfielder who can also play as a striker, he could provide several options.’’
