Arsenal are two points clear at the top of the Premiership after beating Derby 1-0 at Highbury.

Robert Pires slotted home the winner in the 69th minute after being played in by Dennis Bergkamp.

Andy Oakes had earlier made a string of fine saves, though Thierry Henry did beat him with a shot that came back off a post.

Elsewhere in the Premiership Ireland's Damien Duff and Andy Cole have put Blackburn three goals clear of Aston Villa at Ewood Park - David Dunn scored the first on seven minutes.
