Soccer: Blatter at centre of bribery allegations
UEFA has called for an investigation into bribery allegations surrounding the election of Sepp Blatter as president of FIFA five years ago.
Blatter was elected as successor to Joao Havelange in June 1998, beating UEFA president Lennart Johansson.
However, Farah Addo, president of Somaliaâs football association, alleged he was offered money to switch his vote.
Addo, who is also vice-president of the African Football Confederation, said the African delegates had decided to vote for Johansson, but were offered money to switch allegiances.
Many delegates subsequently voted for Blatter.
Mike Lee, communications director of UEFA, has led calls for an investigation into the allegations.
