Midfielder John Burns scored a crucial second half winner to restore Shelbourne's four point lead at the top of the table.

Burns collected throw to run across the Cork 18 yard line and drill a low shot past Michael Devine for the only goal of a tight game. Cork were left kicking themselves when they should have levelled in stoppage time right at the death.

Substitute James Mulligan found himself clean through on goal but Steve Williams outfoxed the City striker to make a super save.
