Gary Haylock scored twice as Dundalk gave their hopes of avoiding relegation a boost with a shock win at Flancare Park.

Dundalk survived Town's early onslaught to score twice inside a minute. The opener came totally against the run of play on 19 minutes.

Town keeper Stephen Kenny could only parry a shot from Martin Reilly and Ciaran Kavanagh reacted well to turn the ball home.

Garry Haylock did likewise 60 seconds later when a James Keddy cross deflected off a defender to allow him fire home a second.

Haylock then hit a spectacular third goal for Dundalk with a 25 yard shot a minute before the break.

Danny Spiller got Town back in the game when shooting home on 54 minutes but then had a penalty saved by John Connolly as Dundalk held out for a vital win.
