Relegated Monaghan's luck was out as they finished with ten men and scored an own goal.

Bohs took the lead when Paul Byrne shot home a 34th minute penalty after Monaghan defender Ashley White was sent off for pulling down Gar O'Neill.

Tony Folan added the second with a fine solo effort on 68 minutes; curling home from inside the area.

The third goal arrived two minutes from time when Monaghan defender Mick Scully deflected a cross from Bobby Ryan into his own net.
