Premiership: Ridsdale wants Bowyer contract sorted
Leeds chairman Peter Ridsdale wants Lee Bowyer’s future sorted out soon.
Ridsdale expects the midfielder, whose current deal runs out next year, to sign a new contract with the club.
However, no talks have taken place recently and Leeds would rather sell Bowyer, rated at £15m (€24.6m), in the summer than allow him to leave on a free transfer at the end of his contract.
‘‘No talks have been taken place for a while, but I hope to arrange a meeting in the near future,’’ Ridsdale said.
‘‘This situation must be resolved because if he does not want to sign a new deal, we would have to address the matter in the summer.
‘‘But the indications are there will be no problems because Lee wants to stay.’’
