Eircom League: Derry put six past Monaghan

Liam Coyle, Padraig Moran and Jamie Hughes hit a brace each as Derry romped

Derry City 6 Monaghan United 1

Liam Coyle, Padraig Moran and Jamie Hughes hit a brace each as Derry romped to their biggest win of the season.

Liam Coyle returned from illness to open the scoring with a cheeky back-heel on five minutes and Derry never looked back.

Padraig Moran then added two more before the break to end his seven match barren spell.

Coyle added the fourth with a header seven minutes into the second half.

Sub Hughes then got the fifth with a simple tap-in on the hour.

Monaghan's consolation came from sub Andy McConville on 82 minutes but Derry had the final say when Hughes fired home his second a minute later.
