Soccer: Hammam told to stop pitch walk

Cardiff City owner Sam Hammam has been told to remain in the directors' box for the duration of all home matches.

Hammam was heavily criticised for walking in front of Leeds fans towards the end of Cardiff's FA Cup third-round win at Ninian Park.

And the Football Association of Wales have now moved to stamp it out.

FAW secretary general David Collins said: "We will impose on Mr Hammam a decision that he must stay in the directors' box at matches.

"That has already been communicated to Cardiff City and the club have indicated that he will abide by that decision."

Collins and his disciplinary boss Paul Evans met Football Association officials at London's Soho Square to discuss events at Ninian Park.

But Collins added: "We did not discuss at the meeting with the English FA whether Mr Hammam could be considered to have incited the fans. That is something we will look at in the light of all the other evidence."
