FAI to support joint Euro 2008 bid
The FAI has confirmed they will support a bid by the Scottish Football Association to co-host the 2008 European Championships, if asked.
FAI delegates decided unanimously at a meeting to lend their support if the Scottish Football Association invites the Irish to conjoin holding the finals.
The FAI expects that they would host one quarter of the games in the finals using Lansdowne Road and the proposed Campus Ireland stadium.
The deadline for applications to stage the 2008 finals with UEFA is February 28 and the FAI is expecting the Scottish FA to invite them to join in a bid before the end of this month.
Meanwhile, the FAI has also confirmed that the United States will be Ireland's opponents in a friendly match at Lansdowne Road on April 17.
The last time the two countries met was in the Nike Cup in America in June 2000 finishing with a 1-1 draw.
