Three footballers were due to appear in court today accused of assaulting a nightclub doorman.

Chelsea stars Jody Morris, 23, and John Terry, 21, and Wimbledon defender Desmond Byrne, 20, are charged with causing actual bodily harm and affray.

Midfielder Morris, from Epsom, Surrey, Terry, of Manor Park, Epsom, and Byrne, of Clarendon Park, Surrey, were due to appear on bail at Horseferry Road Magistrates Court in London.

The charges followed an alleged incident at the private members’ Wellington Club in central London on January 4.
