Eircom League: Cork City move into third

Cork City 1, Derry City 0 (full-time)

Cork City moved clear into third place in the table thanks to Derek Coughlan's 19th minute winner against Derry City at Turner's Cross.

Derry keeper Russell Payne lost the flight of Ollie Cahill's corner and Coughlan arrived unmarked at the back post to head home his fourth goal of the season.

Liam Coyle twice missed good chances early in each half for Derry who struggled to contain Cork and Cahill in particular.

Colin O'Brien then came close to getting a second for Cork 10 minutes from time but Payne made a good stop.

To add to Derry's woes, defender Darren Kelly was sent off in the last minute of the game for a second bookable offence.
