SPL: Rangers beat bottom club St Johnstone
Rangers 1, St Johnstone 0 (full-time)
A second minute goal from Michael Mols was enough to give Rangers victory over bottom club St Johnstone at Ibrox.
But it was laboriously achieved and Saints were denied a second half equaliser when Stefan Klos saved well from Rachid Djebaili.
Klos made a good save from Djebaili to preserve his side’s lead after Paul Hartley’s throughball had given the striker a 50-50 tussle with Amoruso.
The Algerian managed to get a foot to the ball at the vital moment but Klos had anticipated to block with a glove.
De Boer showed great skill to slip past his challengers but, with the goal at his mercy, fired wide.
With eight minutes remaining, Saints swapped Djebaili for John Paul McBride.
Amoruso’s free-kick bounced off the wall for a corner and, after Flo got a touch, the Italian headed wide.
And when Cuthbert could only punch as far as Flo, the Norseman spurned the chance by firing wide.
