Longford Town have confirmed that former Drogheda boss Martin Lawlor will replace Stephen Kenny as manager of the midlands club.

Following weeks of speculation about the position, Longford confirmed Lawlor’s appointment this afternoon.

UCD’s Paul Doolin and Monaghan United’s Bobby Browne were linked with the job over the past week, but both men ruled themselves out of the running in the past 24 hours.

The managerial position was left vacant after Kenny departed for Bohemians earlier this month.
