Taking the place of Liverpool fans’ favourite Robbie Fowler was a daunting prospect for Nicolas Anelka, the France international has admitted.

Anelka made his debut for the Merseyside giants in St Stephen's Day's 2-1 win at Aston Villa, appearing as a second-half substitute.
