Premiership: Wenger backs Anelka coup

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Liverpool have done ‘‘a good deal’’ in signing Nicolas Anelka but has questioned whether the French striker will do well alongside Michael Owen.

Anelka will be unveiled at Anfield this afternoon after completing his loan move from Paris St Germain, and Liverpool’s home defeat by Arsenal yesterday was evidence enough that his talents are desperately needed.
