Premiership: Kachloul gets all clear

Aston Villa midfielder Hassan Kachloul has been given the all-clear to resume training after a second brain scan.

The Moroccan international was able to join in fully with his colleagues at the club’s Bodymoor Heath training complex for the first time in three weeks.

Kachloul was detained in hospital after suffering concussion and a loss of memory when accidentally colliding with Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Kevin Pressman in the Worthington Cup clash at Villa Park.

An initial scan revealed a burst blood vessel in the brain and the former Southampton player had to rest as a precaution and was confined to only bike work.

But now Kachloul has been given a clean bill of health after having the second scan and will be in contention for Saturday’s Midlands derby with Derby County at Pride Park.

Villa media officer Phil Mepham told PA Sport: ‘‘Hassan has returned to training this morning after being given the all clear by the surgeon following a second brain scan on Monday evening.’’

His availability will be a welcome relief for Villa manager John Gregory who will be without Mark Delaney, Moustapha Hadji and Ozalan Alpay till the new year with long-term injuries.
