Champions League: Leverkusen destroy Deportivo

Bayer Leverkusen 3, Dep La Coruna 0

Bayer Leverkusen scored a surprise 3-0 win over Spanish side Deportivo La Coruna at the Bayarena Stadium.

The game was played at a fast pace with Leverkusen having most of the possession while Deportivo were prepared to defend deep and hit the home side on the break.

Two quick goals after the interval set the Germans on the road to victory. On 64 minutes the Brazilian Zé Roberto fired home a free-kick from the edge of Deportivo’s penalty area.

Three minutes later a great ball through from Carsten Ramelow found Oliver Neuville charging into the area, and as Jose Molina came out, he placed it exquisitely into the left-hand corner of his goal.

Michael Ballack completed the Spaniard's misery when he headed home Leverkusen’s third from a corner on 79 minutes.
