Premiership: Desailly sets target for return

Chelsea captain Marcel Desailly hopes to be back into action for his side’s Premiership clash with Liverpool on December 15.

The France defender has been suffering with an Achilles injury for the past month and had not played for the Blues since November 4.

‘‘I really feel better, I keep treating my Achilles and I think I will be able to resume training very soon,’’ he said.

‘‘My objective is to be fit for the game against Liverpool, which will be very important for us.’’

Desailly was delighted by his side’s 3-0 victory over Manchester United which could be the win to kick-start the London club’s season.

‘‘I have only one thing to say, it is magnificent. This is a great performance from everyone,’’ he added.

‘‘This league is very special as no team really managed to take a clear lead apart from Liverpool.’’
