Soccer: Breen limps off Tehran training ground

Defender Gary Breen has become Ireland’s latest injury worry after he picked up an injury during training in Tehran today.

Breen limped off the training ground in the Iranian capital complaining of a sore ankle.

Meanwhile, striker Niall Quinn and defender Steve Staunton are still doubtful for Thursday’s World Cup play-off second leg.

Both players have back injuries but manager Mick McCarthy has said he will give them until the last minute to prove their fitness in the hope that they will be able to participate in Thursday’s game.
