Rio Ferdinand has been named Barclaycard player of the month for October with the manager of the month award going to Tottenham’s Glenn Hoddle.

Leeds defender Ferdinand - who represented England in Saturday’s friendly against Sweden - receives the award after helping his club secure draws against Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United.
